Mission Statement : We are a community -based organization serving those in poverty. We aim to help low-income individuals by meeting their basic needs and maintain self-sufficiency. We provide recreational and social programs for children that live in high poverty neighborhoods.
Food Pantry- To feed the hungry daily with a network of partners. Most of the food is donated by individuals or local organizations. The efforts of our many volunteers and donors assure that food is provided with sensitivity to the community. Life skills Classes- are facilitated by trained instructors the classes consist of parenting class, problem solving, communication, and money management. By learning new life skills a person increases their understanding of the world around them and equip themselves with the tools needed to live a more productive and fulfilling life.
Back to School Program- SICOM distributes new backpacks filled with school supplies, along with new or gently-used clothing at our Program Center to over 100 school-age children in our community to help them start the new school year. Volunteers help sort donations, stuff backpacks with newschool supplies, and distribute backpacks to families.
Thanksgiving Basket Program- Every year, SICOM distributes Thanksgiving baskets to over 100 local families containing all the traditional Thanksgiving fixings to cook a warm, delicious holiday meal.
Volunteers are needed at SICOM to help organize and prepare the food donations, and to distribute food baskets to families on Monday prior to Thanksgiving.
